ASSESSMENT

Assessment plays an important part in helping parents and practitioners to recognize children’s progress, understand their needs, and to plan activities and support.

KG

Ongoing assessment (also known as formative assessment) is an integral part of the learning and development process in early years. It involves practitioners observing children to understand their level of achievement, interests and learning styles, and to then shape learning experiences for each child reflecting those observations.

Primary and Secondary

Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) is followed from grade 1 onwards and feedback is provided regularly to the parents. Assessments are conducted periodically. The average of the assessments is considered for final promotion.

In Grades 1 and 2, grades will be given instead of marks. From grade 3 onwards, a formal assessment with Periodic Tests and Term End Examinations will be undertaken.

International Benchmarking Tests

The UAE National Agenda for Education is a strategic initiative introduced by H.H.Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai. KHDA introduced the UAE National Agenda Parameter in 2015-16 as a method for measuring and monitoring Dubai’s private schools’ improvement towards achieving their National Agenda targets. The parameter requires all schools to participate in international and external benchmarking assessments on an annual basis (other than PISA and TIMSS) and use them to monitor progress in meeting these targets.

The students are taught to examine their own data and set learning goals which will be regularly reviewed. This helps build on student strengths and provides continuous feedback which is timely, specific, well-formatted and constructive. The school incorporates a targeted use of data to provide additional individual instruction for Emirati students who are struggling with particular subjects or topic
